110 years of damn good dairy
How do you throw a legendary party for a 110 year old dairy brand?
You create a national holiday as tribute to their first love/cheese, cheddar.
We drafted a petition to the government parties in charge of holidays (yes this is a thing) to dedicate Tillamook’s birthday to a higher, cheesier purpose – the first-ever National Cheddar Day.
Of the 18k submissions, National Cheddar Day was born.
We declared the holiday in the only way that made sense – by hand-carving our proclamation into a giant, 40lb brick of solid Tillamook Cheddar.
Is it really a party without a piñata?
To celebrate the big day, we gave away a TON of cheddar.
Literally.
We partnered with delivery service Fooji through Twitter. All people had to do was Tweet “#NationalCheddarDay + 🧀” and they had 2lbs of cheddar delivered to their cheese-lovin’ arms in under a hour.
We got giphy with it.
We even helped Tillamook create a brand ambassador program just in time for National Cheddar Day.
Between our ambassadors, foodie influencers, and fans, the first-ever National Cheddar Day was a huge, cheesy success.
We reached 373 million earned impressions, 97K engagement, and over 11.7K hashtag mentions.
But perhaps the greatest gift of all is a completely unpaid, unprompted post from William Shatner celebrating National Cheddar Day and Tillamook from his backyard leather armchair - boots on, glass raised.
Captain, we salute you.
